I FAIL to understand the logic and purpose of the whole situation. How can you let so-called custodians of culture tell you how to live your life? How can a government carry on in power and take away your basic right to life and leisure?
I blame the people of Bangalore for letting these authorities get away with their illogical curbs and justifications.
How dare we keep quiet and not go out and party! These are the very people who give speeches about Bangalore being a liberal city. I dont know which rabbit hole they have been living in, for them to impose such absurd rules on us and then call us liberal. Have they travelled beyond the state, forget the country, and seen what makes cities like London, New York and Delhi what they are?
The authorities keep saying curbs on nightlife bring down the crime rate of the city. Please show me the link between enjoyment and crime. Which terrorist has been caught dancing in a discotheque? Why are citizens being so silly and listening to all these lies? Im all for raising the salaries of the police and paying more taxes if they promise to let us live our lives, our way.
With the substandard infrastructure and education system, bad roads, corruption and load shedding. I dont know what Im paying taxes for. Mumbai is marginally better. They have laws that say women cant dance in the same place where alcohol is served, but they can differentiate between illegal joints and decent pubs. The police should lay down stricter rules for criminals and drunken driving instead of targetting innocent citizens. Fine them heavily, arrest them, and confiscate their vehicles, but let law-abiding citizens have their fun.
Music and dance bring people together. When youre dancing or grooving to music, you dont worry about whos singing and dancing next to you. You dont ask if theyre of your religion or community. By banning these forms of art and entertainment, the government is dividing society. And we, as independent citizens, cant allow the very people weve put in power to protect our rights take our freedom away from us. Next, theyll tell us what we can or cant wear or who we can or cant be friends with. Its absurd and infuriating.
